19th Century French Parisian Commode
stock #179042NM1960
Description: SOLD

This is a beautifully patinaed Parisian Chest of Drawers made during the second half of the 19th century by the end of the reign of Napoleon III. This exquisite item is topped by its original Rouge Royal marble sitting upon an elegantly simple step-front facade combining mahogany and rosewood veneers. The facade is featuring a total of 3 drawers mounted with bronze hardware, typical of the Louis XVI style from which this commode is inspired. The pediment consists of slightly scrolled cabriole legs with bronze sabots. This type of Commode is usually called Transition because it features both Louis XV and Louis XVI styles. Several minor scratches and dents can be seen here and there due to the age. Circa date 1860-1870. Dimensions 35”high/ 46 ½”wide/ 19 ½”deep.
