19th Century Antique French Provencal Bedroom Cabinet

Description: This is a very nice Cabinet made from solid and lovely patinaed walnut at the end of the 19th century. This decorative piece is originally coming from Provence in the south of France. This cabinet consists of a long and nicely scrolled crossbow shaped top sitting upon a straight facade centering a pair of arched recessed doors mounted with long hinges barrel flanked by side cabinets with sliding doors. Such piece is commonly called a Glissant cabinet (Glissant meaning Sliding in French) due to the sliding doors located at each end. Note the lovely embellishment depicting olive tree branches and floral patterns so typical from the south of France. This type of item is usually placed in the bedroom in front of the bed. It can be used as a bench and offers a large storage capacity. Lock on the central door is in working condition. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa date 1890-1900. Dimensions 19"high/ 65"wide/ 12"deep.
