18th Century Antique French Louis XV Period Vaisselier

Description: This is a handsome Buffet Deux Corps, commonly called Vaisselier by the French, made from solid and beautifully patinaed cherry during the second half of the 18th century by the end of the reign of Louis XV. This provincial piece is originally coming from Vendee in west-central France, on the Atlantic Ocean. This stunning piece consists of an upper section featuring open shelves with straight bars to hold and display plates and other crockery. The name Vaisselier comes from the French word Vaisselle which means dishes. The bottom part is a very nice buffet consisting of a couple of drawers above a pair of recessed paneled doors mounted with their original brass escutcheons boasting an intricate embellishment. This piece offers a large storage capacity. Lock is in original and working condition. Several scratches and dents can be seen here and there due to the age. Available online only.
