This is a stunning and intricately sculpted second half of the 19th century Buffet made from solid and lovely patinaed oak by the end of the reign of Napoleon III. This beautiful piece, commonly called "Scene de Chasse" by the French (Hunting Buffet), consists of a gadrooned top sitting upon the majestic step-back facade boasting a magnificent embellishment from the pair of drawers to the pair of recessed paneled doors, all flanked by barley twisted columns and highlighted by a gadrooned apron. The drawers are boasting hand-carved heraldic-shaped handles, which is typical from the Napoleon III era, while the doors are impressively decorated with dogs and their trophies with a village in the background. The lock on the doors is in original and working order. Several minor scratches and dents can be seen due to the age. Circa date 1860-1870. Dimensions 38½”high/ 56"wide/ 23½”deep.
