Both are actually sliding doors coming from a Buffet a Glissant, typical from the south of France. Each is accented with detailed olive tree branch and wheat which indicate the region of Provence. This is a beautiful and massive pair of marble brackets handmade by the end of the 18th century, each sculpted from a single piece of Caunes Speckled Gray marble. The quarry was originally located in Caunes-Minervois in Aude South of France. Used greatly during the 17th and 18th century for furniture, decoration and fireplace. Note minor chips on edges.
